The internet has been out since last night, but it's up now. I didn't sleep last night and have a headache, but I at least got started putting together the pineapple blocks this morning. Ambrosina stayed up most of the night to get the dining room floor varnished, it looks really well but she doesn't, she's worn out. Now it has to have a finish coat on it and then we can start moving stuff back, what a mess it will be, but worth it.
Yesterday when she was standing at the kitchen sink she got dripped on so now they have to tear out the bathroom and repair the plumbing and then replace the kitchen ceiling. The mess never ends in an old house, they want a new one that doesn't need so much upkeep, I can understand that. I'm spending the rest of the time until I can start moving my stuff back in down in the basement out of the way. The sitting room is almost clean and I have gone through a lot more fabric and passed some on to David, he's got a couple of quilts planned. When the current work on house is at a stopping point.
My camera is still somewhere upstairs, so still no pictures. I've got to get myself organized!!!

Not sure what I am going to do today. Not feeling very good and David is making an awful lot of noise upstairs using the compressor and sander to hang the cove molding around the top of the dining room. I had planned to baste the baby quilt tops I made several months ago, but I don't know if I feel like it. The backing is down here so at least I can hunt it out of the tub and put it ready. I could also work on putting stuff away in the next corner of our sitting room because that still needs to be done; or I could start putting the pineapple blocks together. There is always plenty to be done so I don't fear being bored. I could always read a book!

Thursday January 28, 2016
This morning I got up right away and went upstairs before checking my email and posting. Hurrah!!! The painting is done in the dining room and now all we have to do is the floor. Can't wait to get my sewing corner back and clean up the mess. I'll be able to get the Viking back up and running and get some clothes projects done that I have had cut out since last spring. I have been making patterns to make a machine embroidered Jacobean style bedspread because I have always been fascinated with the old English crewel patterns. It's been fun but I am ready to start the project soon. Hopefully I will be able to find some fabric that I have in mind on payday.
I finished the love ring top this morning. Somehow I managed to get 13 rows of 15 in stead of 14 rows of 14. It looks ok though. I took a picture of it on the couch, but I left the camera upstairs again.
Yesterday I got the bed room done and finished the pineapple blocks, now all I have to do is join them together, and two more tops will be added to the tub in the attic, unless i have to find another tub. Tomorrow I will put the Allietare top and the Love Ring top up there until it is warm enough to set up the quilting frame on the back porch. I have a couple of dozen tops up there because I can piece faster than I can quilt, but I hope to catch up this summer since I won't be gone a large portion of it.
I will add a bunch of pictures when I remember to bring the camera downstairs again. Today I am going to tackle our little sitting room so that we can actually sit in it if and when we get a chair. Catch you later.

January 27, 2016
Yesterday as I was putting the last block on the last row of the Love Ring quilt the number of blocks didn't come out right and I discovered I hadn't the right number of rows, so now I have to go back and figure out where I messed up, or if I might like it the way I did it and use the extra rows on the back. The last fifty of the pineapple quilt are still waiting for their corners, but I have started the great bedroom cleanup and I will have to put all the things on the treadle away before I can do that. I am making progress however, most of the stuff on my side of the bed is off the floor and put away. The goal is to finish putting away the stuff on the floor so that I can sweep today, then the stuff on the furniture tomorrow. Where does it all come from? I throw stuff away, I give stuff to Goodwill and still I have more stuff than I can use. Argghh!!!!!

The trim in the dining room is being painted now. It is red for A's Asian theme. It will be pretty when done. Yesterday I finished the strips on the last 50 pineapple blocks and now have only to add the corners which are ready to go on. I have been cleaning up and putting away stuff in the bed room so I am ready to start the next project on the treadle. It will be a T block quilt to replace Anthony's graduation quilt that we had to throw away when we moved him out of Aberdeen. I didn't see the quilt but that is what Ambrosina said and of course I believe her. What a mess the bedroom has gotten in while I was working on the pineapple blocks and had to move all my stuff out of the sewing corner, but I will get it organized when I start putting it back.
Only 2 months until spring, at least nominal spring, when it warms up is any body's guess. At least we can hope it warms up early. It has warmed up a little bit because the last 2 nights we have been able to turn the heater off at night although still using the electric matress pad. I am going to drink my coffee and then go upstairs and work on the Love ring quilt. I only have 4 more vertical rows to add and then can start sewing the horizontal rows together. I think it is going to look pretty good!

It's been snowing all morning. The house is coming along pretty good. The dining room is painted and Ambrosina is working on the trim. It should be pretty and elegant.
I worked on the drunkard's path love ring this morning. I should have all the vertical rows sewn together by tomorrow afternoon. The horizontal seams will take a while as all of the seams will have to match, not just the intersecting of the blocks, but the curved ones as well. I think the effect will be very good although the turquoise is not my favorite of colors.
It's cold and my knees ache.

I am very thankful we only got sprinkles of snow, not like the east coast which got up to 40 inches in some places. It has warmed up we are now in the mid twenties, not twenty below. Still cold but bearable.
Anthony's room is done, there has been a steady parade of stuff coming from the unfinished part of the basement through the sitting room and up the stairs as he moves his stuff back in. When it warms up a little more I will be able to straighten up around the loom and start warping on. The dining room got it's coat of primer yesterday morning. I can see moving back into my sewing corner is coming up and maybe I will get back to getting some projects done. I feel like I am just marking time right now.
Not sure what I am going to do this morning. I am on the last row of strips on the pineapple blocks, but I think I will go upstairs and do the love rings blocks, I am getting close to the blocks being done.

Today when I head upstairs I have a 6 foot tall bookcase to pack up, I should say dust and pack up. It sat through all the 110 year old lath and plaster removal and the sanding of the floors and new wall board. The shelves are going to be used for built-ins so that we have more shelving in the spaces that were there. After that I may get some time to sew.
I finished Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt top "Allietare" yesterday. It will have to wait until spring for quilting, so I will put it away in the attic until then. I have the drunkard's path Love Ring variation going upstairs now, until I can get my sewing area put back and work on some clothes. The coat and hats I was working on will probably not be done until next winter. Oh well. Got to get going.

I am going to try to remember to do this every morning at least. Things have been so erratic that I get distracted. Yesterday I finished the fifty blocks of the inch and a half wide strip pineapple blocks that I am making on the treadle machine in the bedroom. I am almost finished with the inch wide strip blocks, I am hoping to finish them this weekend. Now I need to go upstairs and get something done up there.
The dining room repairs are waiting on the ones in the upstairs bedroom so that Anthony can move back in, but it shouldn't be too long. After that comes the monumental clean up, but more about that later.
